Success Stories
Empowering Small Teams
This project began with a company that had design work completed by an EMS company. There were many things the EMS company did well, but their rigid process didn’t lead to optimal outcomes for this company.
After the original design was complete, there were modifications required to many aspects of the product, modifications required that the company didn’t have experience to complete in-house, and that the EMS company was not able to support well.
That’s where Neltek came in. Work began as a simple continuous improvement project. When the need arose for a larger design change, Neltek made it happen. Empathizing with the user needs to balance conflicting design goals was essential. Working collaboratively with the company, hardware and software updates were made quickly - and in a way that produced more consistent product behavior.

Replacing an Unavailable Module
It was supposed to be “Long Term Supply” - but the compute module is nowhere to be found.
Neltek designed a compute module compatible with the existing product. This project involved schematic capture and PCB layout for a multi-core SoC capable of running Linux which included a GPU.
CPU core power regulation, DDR memory routing, and high speed display signaling all demanded consideration of nuanced factors, such as power integrity and signal integrity.
Ultimately, a module compatible with both the product, and the existing Linux software was created, resolving a difficult situation. By only implementing features that were necessary, the unit cost ended up being very competitive, despite a lower production volume.

Navigating Turbulent Waters with an Established Product
It started with the electronic component supply shortages of 2020-2023.
Shortages prevented manufacturing an established product, which led to a hurried set of design changes. Near the end of this design change, the Electrical Engineer left the company to pursue other work. That’s where Neltek stepped in.
Inheriting an established design with some incomplete changes, Neltek quickly came up to speed on the Electronics, Firmware, and product function. Ultimately completing the design updates, and verifying the changes did not harm product function. Neltek worked in close collaboration with the contract manufacturer and the mechanical engineers at the company to get this product back on the market.

Bringing Manufacturing In-House
After a few years of manufacturing a product that contains a Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) through the usual channels - the pains of setup fees, labor costs, and scheduling issues were interfering with sales.
Neltek helped this company to program their new SMT Assembly line, which included a stencil printer, multiple pick and place machines, and a reflow oven.
Neltek transformed the raw manufacturing outputs into the formats required for the new SMT machines. Creating a system to remember feeder placements for each unique component across new revisions of old designs, and new product development efforts - reducing machine programming time significantly.
Neltek designed an end-of-line Bed of Nails tester to support the new line, which executes a test routine stored in a format that can be edited without programming knowledge. The fixture can both drive inputs (state injection) and monitor outputs of critical circuits. Logging Pass/Fail data, and indicating test results on a screen and LED tower.
